One Stop Power Shop Hosts Carolina Clash
May 3, 2021
Defending champion Josh Koch captured the win in the Men’s Open division at the Professional Long Drivers Association’s Carolina Clash hosted by One Stop Power Shop. Koch blasted a 421-yard drive to defeat Nick Vorbeck in his quarter-final round. With his hair tucked in his shirt, Kyle Berkshire ripped a 429-yard drive on his final ball to better long-time rival Justin James’s 421-yard opening drive. In final round match play, Berkshire ended up chasing Koch’s 398-yard blast but watched all three of his balls roll out-of-bounds. One Stop Power Shop had stepped up at the last minute to host the Carolina Clash long drive qualifier in Newton, NC. Veteran pro long driver, Bobby Peterson did an excellent job to ensure the continued success of the 2021 PLDA qualifying event.

The weekend started off slow for Koch, who had left a pregnant wife at home to make the trip and had almost pulled out of the event with a neck injury. Nonetheless, the professional golf instructor was thrilled to go heads up with defending World Champion Kyle Berkshire. The next stop for the PLDA is the Diamond in the Desert, which will be back at Mesquite Sports Complex in Mesquite, NV on May 21st thru 23rd.
Troy Caylee and Zack Holton Division Winners
Senior long ball hitter Troy Caylee claimed top honors at Carolina Clash again in the PLDA Seniors Division with a winning blast of 373-yards in final foursome that included David Mobley, Mike Farrell, and E.J. McDonnell. Amateur long driver Zack Holton took home the win in the PLDA Amateur division Saturday morning by backing up his runner up finish in Memphis with a win over Alex Bloser after posting a 341 yard blast. Holton punched his ticket to the World Championship at the Regional Qualifier and barely missed qualitying for the Top 8 in Pro Long Drive for the Men's Open Division on Sunday at the Carolina Clash.
